Hello! We are Paul and Sonja, two transplants from Europe. Paul has been drawn to the forest for as long as he can think; back in Munich, as often as possible he’d go out into that green oasis to listen and watch the wild life. His grandmother had to wake him up on the weekends so that he could be up on the high-stand in the woods before sun-up! At the age of 16 he took his hunting exams and bought his first rifle. Many happy hours were spent hunting deer and trapping fox. In 1995 Paul was lucky enough to immigrate directly to Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. In 1997, after having completed his trapper training course, he came upon a little note stuck to the Yukon Trappers’ Association’s message board – there was a remote trapline for sale! He bought it that same year.

Sonja came “into the picture” in 2001; she and a girlfriend bought a car in Vancouver and planned to explore Canada, especially the western part. Enter Tagish lake in the Yukon Territory where she met Paul – and the rest, they say, is history.

Starting in 20013, we were finally able to live out on the trapline for most of the year, usually August, then September to April. And we don’t want it any other way!
